Etherwave LIVE 011 - [20 July 2008]
Waaaaaaaaaay back on Sunday night, we did a thing. It was a thing called RADIO, even though we didn't broadcast in a way that utilized actual radio waves. We talked and discussed and chatted about life, school, work, classic arcade games, kids, monsters, aaaaaand we played some music.
Listen to the show at this place:
http://etherwaveradio.podomatic.com
And, if you want to listen to the show LIVE while we're picking cuts and arguing about which Adam and the Ants album is best, you can do that every Sunday night starting at 9:00 pm (PST) thanks to the snappy folks at the Awesomeville station:

Well....Here it is. Music to irritate the average listener. This is difficult stuff --- we know that. But we love the challenge. We don't listen to much pop music (of any genre) anymore because we've been music fanatics for SOOOOOO LONG that we've heard most of the formulas before. (Or, because we're screwy in the brain.) There's nothing wrong with formula, but, for our taste, it either has to be executed in the most stunningly perfect way or it's got to deviate into new realms of weirdness, tackiness, neurosis, or what-the-fuck-edness. Just the way we are. Here's some of that:
Music 001 (1:03:15)

TECHNO - NEW WAVE - DISCO
Just like the sign says. (I love the colors of the flyer is nothing else. You?)
I really do enjoy playing clubs. Don't have quite as much freedom to play the wacky stuff (not every Frank Zappa song works on the dance floor) but hearing a great electro bass-line REALLY loud and feeling that beat in your chest can be a fantastic experience.
Check out the flyer for all the important details.

Etherwave Live Number 10 - 13 July 2008
Crazy ass show. CRAZY!!! We had a call in live performance over the answering machine, lots of guests in the studio / dining room, weird noises from "prank calls," and tons of cool music. Really just soaking in the spirit of DADA! (Cuz art movements are nifty.) The artwork for this episode is mostly from the DADA movement, two Raoul Hausmann collages, one photograph of Hugo Ball in a cubist costume, and one picture of Boy George wearing a Misfits t-shirt (not exactly DADA, but not exactly NOT either.)
And I've decided I LOVE doing a super long set because then I've really got time to stretch out and plays all those songs that are in my "MAYBE" list; you know, all those quirky suckers that end up making the show so cool. Love it.
Here's a rough outline of the madness:
The Music - Part One (1:01:48)

Furniture - "Brilliant Mind (Extended Mix)"
Call in song:

6 July 2008 - Etherwave Live 009!
It seems so long ago... Mr. Fletcher and I sat down in the Greybeard studio/dining room only four days ago, but it might as well have been a lifetime. Hopefully, for all you patient listeners who've been chomping at the bit, our bandwidth quota will reset today (might have to wait until midnight, but I don't know WHY!!! I might have to make a call or two...) and you'll finally be able to listen to the show again. A thousand apologies for the interuption in service. Hopefully we didn't lose too many people because of that week of silence, (but if we lost a FEW it might help the bandwidth thing, until we get the benefit zine out there and get our pro account going anyway.)
ENOUGH OF THIS MINDLESS JABBERING!!!! You've come here to listen to some music, and I say HAVE AT 'ER!!! (Hopefully, you'll be able to.)

Etherwave LIVE 008! (29 June 2008)
I've had a day or two to think about what we did on that crazy night by now, and I'm perversely proud of this tour through our sick minds. Mr. Fletcher and Captain No-beard chatted a great deal, speaking of many strange things, drank some substances that were describe in bubbly detail, and played all the usual songs that everyone is likely to hear on any Top 40 radio station (in Little Jackie Paper's Universe, perhaps). It all makes me quite happy. And, though the cold I was fighting while on air still clings like a clinging thing to my lungs, it makes me feel a wee-bit better to go back and listen to this four hour block of stuff. Truly magical (in the pharmaceutical sense. [See Jaque Derrida's DISSEMINATION for more info.])
And don't forget to tell us what you think. Does it make YOU feel better??? We wanna know. Tell us via electronic communication:
etherwaveradio@gmail.com
P.S. - Two of the pieces of artwork used for this week's live archive were drawn by Laura from Upsidedown Cat! Can you guess which ones???
Okay, go listen already...
[Editorial Correction: In the opening dialog with Mr. Fletcher, Captain Greybeard mentions that John Lydon (of the Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd) had polio when he was young. According to Lydon's biography ROTTEN: NO IRISH NO BLACKS NO DOGS, when he was seven years old Lydon suffered a near fatal case of spinal meningitis, not polio, which hospitalized him for nearly a year. Not that you care, but we think it's interesting.]

Received another lovely comment last night from an anonymous listener: "Would you please stop SPAMMING Usenet with your ridiculous amateurish crap" Thanks for the suggestion, "Annoyed Usenet User." I'll take your comment into consideration. Always good to hear from a fan! Meanwhile, let's take a look at what our anonymous friend actually said. 1. The show is "amateurish." As we all know, "amateur" is a French word meaning "a lover of..." and, as I am clearly a lover of music, our friend is completely correct! The show is produced out of a spirit of love for all things electro-blippy, punkity-punk, and wonderfully wacky. This lead us to another comment: that the show is "ridiculous." Let's see, I've played Sifl and Olly, Tiny Tim, Weird Al, Tom T. Hall, and The Mothers of Invention. Again, our critic's assesment is dead on! As for the third point, that the show is "crap..." Well, that's just not very nice... BUT, like Meatloaf says, "Two out of three ain't bad!" So, here's some more ridiculous, amateurish crap. ENJOY!
